Northwest Renal Network is a private non-profit corporation whose mission is to promote optimal dialysis and
transplant care for kidney patients in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
Who We Are and What We Do
includes links to our Annual Reports.
Here is a copy of the introductory letter that we send to all
new patients.
Our Emergency Preparedness page contains links to
information useful to both patients and to facilities.   Emergency facility closures nation-wide are
centralized at http://www.dialysisunits.com/, but from time to time we
may also add local information on facility closures at
http://www.nwrenalnetwork.org/facilities.htm.
Issues of Network Consumer News,
our newsletter for patients, family, and friends, are indexed at
http://www.nwrenalnetwork.org/P/NCN.htm.
More information for patients can be found on our
For Patients page.
Our latest Network News newsletter for providers
includes articles on immunization, advance care planning, helping patients understand home dialysis options, guidelines
for assessment and referral to vocational rehabilitation,
Dialysis Facility Compare, our email news bulletin service,
the importance of quality of life indicators, timely assessment and appropriate transplant referral, what's new at the
Network, and Patient Advisory Committee volunteer opportunities.   See also our
For Clinical Staff page for more information useful to providers
and professionals, our Conditions for Coverage
page for the latest news on the new 2008 Dialysis Conditions for Coverage, and our
Information Management page for facility Data Coordinators.
Northwest Renal Network is an active participant in the
Fistula First Fistula First Breakthrough
Initiative for increasing the use of AVFistulas.   Our
Fistula First page includes a long list of resources
for both patients and professional staff.   This project follows our successful 2002 Quality Improvement Project,
Back to the Basics: Increasing the Use of Arterial Venous Fistulas in Hemodialysis Patients.   In addition
to the Back to the Basics final report, you can find
a list of useful materials for increasing fistula use.
Our News Bulletins page keeps up with
major news about kidney dialysis and transplantation. Our
For Patients and
For Clinical Staff pages summarize news and links to
other resources of interest to patients and professional staff respectively, while our
Links to Resources page connects you to other websites
that are useful for both patients and staff.   Don't miss
RenalWEB, an excellent, comprehensive additional resource.
Explore some of our Summary Statistics and Reports, including
Annual ESRD Incidence,
Annual Dialysis Prevalence,
Clinical Performance Measures and
Network Goals,
Dialysis Facility Reports Summary, and
Health Planning Data or
Dialysis Modality Reports, a quarterly patient census.
We also have a page for renal-related
Job Openings in the Northwest.
You can Locate a Facility
here for dialysis or kidney transplant in our five-state region, compare it to other facilities at
Dialysis Facility Compare, and check for
facility closure in the national database and in our
local closure bulletins.
The Nephron Facility Database stores information on facilities outside
the Network area, and lists the services offered by each facility.
For information on other Networks, and on the overall Network program, please see the websites of the
ESRD Network Coordinating Council, and the
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
(CMS).

The Network responds to questions or concerns from patients and staff about the quality of care,
and has a formal grievance process.   We've included a page on
The Role of Northwest Renal Network in Handling Complaints and Grievances,
a statement of Patient's Rights, and
a list of State Survey Agency and CMS contacts.
Our Privacy Policy: We do not collect any information about you when you
visit our site. Be forewarned that email can be intercepted easily, so please do not put confidential
information into an email to us. If you have a grievance about dialysis or transplant care, please refer
to the Grievance Protocol Summary for details
about the confidentiality and privacy of grievances.
Please call us if you find this site useful, if you have ideas for improving it, or if you find a broken link,
